The La Aurora Cigar Factory has been producing some of the best cigars in the world for longer than half a century. Century-old tobacco and family traditions, carried through all the historical vicissitudes, are excellent quality of cigars today, so popular with tobacco connoisseurs around the world.
It all started when Eduardo Leon Jimenez, tobacco growers’ 18-year-old son and grandson, took over the management of the plantation that his father bequeathed to him. In 1903, with small investments and the determination to produce high-quality items, the La Aurora Cigar Factory was opened. By coincidence, the most famous motorcycle brand Harley-Davidson, was founded the same year. It was the beginning of the age-old history of the Leon Jimenez Group. Today this group of companies specializes in consumer goods production and service commercialization and delivery.
In 2002, the magazine Mercado, based on a study carried out by Read&Asociados, called Leon Jiménez’ factory the most significant and revered company in the Dominican Republic. In 2003, the company built a 10-story office building in Santo Domingo to the value of $10,000,000. The company has also published two books and opened a cultural center in Santiago.
Today, the factory located in Guazumal, represents the centuriy-old traditions of the Leon Jimenes Group and focuses on the production of premium products and service commercialization and delivery.
